The Act establishes the Federal University of Medical and Health Sciences, Item Bende, in Abia State, and provides for its objects, institutional composition, powers, governance, statutory framework, supervision, staff and student discipline, non-discrimination, land disposal restrictions, retirement of academic staff, and pension provisions for professors.
